Page Perfection offers domain registration, hosting and email as part of our web design service but can also provide these services when we are not the site developers.
Web hosting is big business, unfortunately attracting some unscrupulous entrepreneurs. Many companies offer a free domain name with hosting but they are then the registrars for your web address. It can be a real headache if that company ceases to exist, as bitter experience has shown!
In line with many web design companies, Page Perfection buys space from a dedicated hosting service. Whilst we made the choice of hosting service carefully and have taken all reasonable steps to ensure that the company concerned is secure and reliable, we recommend that your domain name is registered independently.
Page Perfection uses
UKReg
for all domain registrations. UKReg has been in business for
several years and has proved reliable as well as being one of the
cheapest. For a .co.uk domain name
they charge just £2.95 pa (min 2 years) + VAT. Domain
registration is included, at cost, for our web design clients. It
is a fairly simple process that we suggest you do for yourself if you
are not such a customer. However, if you want us to set up a web
address, without further services, please contact us for a price.
The server we use is based in the UK, with up-time of 99.95% guaranteed. We monitor this independently and find that it is usually up 100% of the time. Response times are also good.
Hosting is all part of the service for web design clients but we can also provide it on its own.
Our hosting rates, whilst very competitive, are not the lowest because we do not simply leave you to fumble around with a complex set-up task by yourself. We can either assist you to load your site onto our servers or we can deal with the whole process for you, including, where necessary, transfer from an existing service. There would be an initial cost for this, depending on various factors. Hosting is then between £30 and £100 per annum.
Please note that E-mail comes with hosting and cannot be offered by Page Perfection as a stand-alone.
As part of the hosting service, we can set up as many e-mail addresses as you require under a particular domain name.
